Top Best-selling cars in October Fri 23 Oct 05 1. Where to start - I've owned the car for nearly two years, it is the bhp quicksilver version. Right from the very start the engine management light would come on and I would get - anti pollution fault - on the display, this would come and go intermitantly, the car was running totally fine whether the fault was showing or not.
Eventually I got it checked, the fault code was cleared off the ecu and the fault didn't return for several months, when eventually it returned, the car was running as well as it always has, and the fault would show itself once every few weeks and then disappear again.
Now to my problem - about six weeks ago the car started to hold back occasionally lack of power and not going into the turbo This happened every couple of days to start with and then over the course of the next few weeks it gradually became more frequent doing it most days at some time.
Fifty percent of the time by letting my foot of the throttle and putting it back on the car would go through the problem and go properly. The last week it has been totally flat and not gone into the turbo once good fun when you live at the top of a big hill on a busy road I had a diagnostic done this morning, and when I picked the car up the garage told me they had reset the ecu to clear fault codes, but were unable to tell me what codes had been present due to a problem with their diagnostic equipment great they didn't charge me though not that I would have payed.
Sorry about the length of this novel. I then had it diagnosed by someone else, and this has shown up two faults pending - P - IDM input circuit malfunction, ignition coil control circuit high voltage. P - Fuel cap sensor switch circuit Could anyone tell me whether either of these two could be the source of my problem and what they mean please.
My wife calls this problem "lumpy petrol" because that's how it feels. We got a new battery and that sorted it for a year then it got worse and it turned out to be a new coil job. Quite expensive I think. Thanks for the suggestion, but I should have made it clear the car is a diesel. The first fault code that I posted seems to refer to a petrol engine, and as I know that the same fault code can mean different things on various models, this is my vin number if it will help anyone to advise me on what the problem is.
I think you have the codes swapped? A year ago the timing belt "slipped" a couple of teeth. After the timing belt was changed he "claims" that it became worse. Timing belt was changed by the local dealership Peugeot and they have since checked the timing twice. I don't know if they checked compression, and I haven't done this yet. The engine is running smooth and is using no oil or coolant. None of which he had them try, other than standard service items.
Generally I'm not that impressed of the dealerships expertise regarding other aspects than performing regular maintenance tasks on the vehicle. It's an authorized Peugeot dealer. The only error I get comes when I disconnect the MAP sensor Engine management complains about the missing sensor, I can't recall the error codes, but I can read them again. There are only the two mentioned error codes from the MAP sensor when unplugging it sensor and they come back if I reset error codes.
Can useful information be obtained with live data? And does this mean data recorded during driving the vehicle? This did not improve engine performance. These two readings comes from the MAP sensor. Is it normal, that the temperature is this wrong? I hope this is enough information to get started! Kind regards, Kim Schrader. Posted Monday, August 8, AM. Hi No, this was taken with the engine off.
Temperature does not change much with engine running. Kim Post the manifold pressure at idle and WOT, and ideally check with a vacuum gauge, ie basics first. Posted Sunday, August 14, PM. Hi I have been diagnosing the engine problem with PP, and here is what I have for you. The temperature shows up correctly now. I have also included pictures of the ignition and O2 sensor screen. If the vehicle listed above demonstrates poor acceleration performance in conjunction with flapping noises in the vicinity of the splash wall, this may be caused by a defective intake manifold.
The intake manifold consists of two plastic housing halves bonded together. A leaky bonded joint A causes air to escape as boost pressure increases, while also making a distinctive noise.
Depending on the size of the leak, the following fault entries may occur in the engine control unit. If a leak is detected, the intake manifold must be completely replaced.
It cannot be repaired. Replacing the intake manifold requires removing the high-pressure fuel lines for the injection valves injectors.
